Cody Critcheloe is a New York City-based songwriter, musician, visual artist, and director. For over a decade, Critcheloe has recorded and toured as the music act SSION—pronounced "SHUN"—releasing the full-length albums Fools Gold in 2008 and Bent in 2012. Fusing elements of grunge, psychedelic rock, punk, and '80s MTV pop, SSION synthesizes a young lifetime of turn-of-the-millennium sonic references into an aesthetically singular vision of modern song craft. After a five-year hiatus, SSION returns this Spring with NOISS, his third feature-length audiovisual LP. His most definitive album to date, NOISS draws from a kaleidoscope of pop references to create an auteurist statement on the degradation of entertainment in the 21st century, and features an ensemble cast of guest vocalists including Jennifer Herrema, Contessa Stuto, Melissa Burns, Ariel Pink, Sky Ferreira, MNDR, Devendra Banhart, and Ian Isiah.
